Ellen

We all know and love Ellen and she's an obvious choice for #wowwoman, especially during Pride month. So I thought I'd share a few random facts about her you may not know.

  • She once worked as a cashier for J.C. Penney, a waitress for T.G.I. Friday's, painted houses for a bit and was a hostess before her stand up comedy days.
  • Her TV sitcom Ellen, was originally named These Friends of Mine
  • She was the real life lesbian to play a lesbian character on television.
  • She once suffered torn ligaments in her back but continued to host her talk show from a hospital bed
  • She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her many acts of charity and activism.
  • The 2 times she hosted the Emmy awards were both after national tragedies, first in 2001 after 9/11 and again in 2005 just after Hurricane Katrina.
  • She's won 29 daytime Emmy awards and has been nominated for 50.
  • She's donated millions to charities including starting her own to help protect wildlife in Africa called the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund.
  • I've always thought my daughter looked like her.

Daisy May loves Ellen and we're happy to name this cute summer jumper after her.
