Edith Wilson

Edith Wilson

Remember that time we had a female president? No? Well we basically did! She was wife to president Woodrow Wilson in 1915. When Pres Wilson suffered a stroke during his presidency Edith essentially took over his duties and served as a sort of interim president. A Senator of the time described her as "the Presidentress who had fulfilled the dreams of the suffragettes by changing her title from First Lady to Acting First Man." And the chief of staff at the time said she had a "strength of character and purpose" which served to sustain her "under a strain which must have wrecked most women." So while you're busy celebrating Presidents day🏛,feel free to add her to the mix.
